Summer Blockbuster

What was your favorite movie of the summer?

I saw exactly 3 movies this summer, and each had great sentimental value. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the heck out of "Ramona and Beezus." I was all set to detest it. Of course, "Toy Story 3" made me bawl my head off. But as far as favorite, I'd go with "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World." The movie was a lot of fun. Not as much fun as the books, of course, but really fun nonetheless.

I thought about seeing the Scott Pilgrim movie based upon your recommendation of the books.  Then I saw Jason Schwartzman was in the cast and I decided not to go.  I hate that guy so much.

Toy Story 3 was the only movie I saw this summer.

Why do you hate him so much? Not a Rushmore fan? In my head whenever I see the name Jason Schwartzman my brain conjures up Alan Cummings. I like Cummings better.

Rushmore is one of my favorite movies, but I've really disliked JS in everything he's been in since then.  I Heart Huckabees, The Darjeeling Limited, Shopgirl, etc.

I didn't mind him in "Shopgirl" which surprises me. Or really what surprises me is that I enjoyed the movie quite a bit and loathed the novella it was based on. 

If it makes you feel any better, he's in Scott Pilgrim for like 15 minutes (if that).

Have you read the Scott Pilgrim books?

No, but I know Scott Pilgrim fights a bunch of exes (including Jason Schwartzman).

I'd say that is what the movie is about. The book series is more about coming of age and emotional baggage and fighting exes.
